You’ll have an array of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels that capture the sun’s energy which is then converted into electricity for your home using an inverter. Your home will use this electricity as you generate it, then you’ll import any extra you need from the grid.
If you add a battery to your solar system, it will store some of the electricity you are generating rather than exporting it. This means you’ll need to import less electricity from the grid, saving you money on your bills.
How much you save will depend on lots of things, like the size of your system, which way your roof faces and how you use energy in your home. As an example, you could reduce your electricity bills by 50%, around £400 a year, by having E.ON Solar and storage. If you add earnings from Feed-in Tariff (FIT) payments, that could be around £630 more a year in your pocket.
These total savings are based on a south facing property in central England with a 40 degree roof tilt and no shading, with an electricity consumption of 4,900 kWh. Savings assume fitting 12 x 320w panels and a 9.6 kWh battery plus a deemed export of 50%. FIT rates based on installs between 1 October 2017 and 31 March 2018.
Yes, all our Solar and storage products come with warranties as standard. For the solar panels this is up to 25 years and up to 10 years for the batteries.

You can now spread the cost of your E.ON Solar system over 12 months with our new payment plan. No interest, no charges and no nasty surprises. It’s really simple, you pay at least 25% upfront and the rest over 12 months. Just ask your Solar Consultant for more information during your appointment.
The payment plan is subject to application and credit status and you must be a UK resident aged 18 or over. Offer only available to new Solar and storage customers. After your installation you can choose an initial payment of between 25% and 75% and spread the rest of the cost over 12 months. Terms and conditions apply.
It depends on which you choose at survey. Most typical installations would chose a mid-sized battery around 4-6 kWh. As a rough guide, a typical home suitable for solar consumes around 12kWh a day on average.

You don’t have to be an E.ON customer to get E.ON Solar and storage and is available to anyone who owns their home and roof. There may be some roof types where we won’t be able to install E.ON solar, such as thatched roofs. We’re launching E.ON Solar in the Midlands and aim to offer it more widely later this year.
You’ll need somewhere indoors to house the battery and its system, you’d be able to choose the best battery for you and your home and they vary in capacity and physical size. The smallest in size is a bit bigger than a VCR player. They can be installed in most places such as in a garage, utility room or even under the stairs.

We aim to install your solar and storage solution in a day, plus some time to put your scaffolding up beforehand, if you need it. Of course this depends on the system you choose and your home, we’d let you know how long it may take when we come to see you. If you’re just having a battery fitted to your existing solar system it will take less than a day.

The batteries we use are either Lithium Ion Phostphate (LFP), or Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC).
Retrofitting the battery is a self-contained system so you won’t need to replace parts of your existing PV system.
Many of our systems come with the E.ON performance guarantee. This is designed to give you confidence that the system we’ve designed for you will generate what we said it would on your quote. If not we’ll pay you the difference.
